2024 Okayama University Anatomical Donor Memorial Service Held

On November 16, Okayama University held the “2024 Anatomical Donor Memorial Service” at the Junko Fukutake Hall on the Shikata Campus. This ceremony honors those who donated their bodies for anatomical studies and disease research.

This year, approximately 500 attendees, including family members, university faculty, and students, gathered for the service. Participants offered flowers at the altar and prayed for the repose of 128 donors who contributed their bodies between September 1, 2023, and August 31, 2024.

Dean Shinichi Toyooka of the Medical School, Dean Satoshi Kubota of the Dental School, and a student representative expressed gratitude for the donors’ profound generosity and pledged to apply the knowledge gained toward advancing disease treatment. A representative of the bereaved families also addressed the gathering, saying, “We pray for your unwavering efforts, dedication, and the continued advancement of medicine.
