DX Seminar Hosted by Okayama University Medical School: “Utilizing Generative AI in Medical and Health Education and Research”
At Okayama University Medical School, a DX Seminar titled “Utilizing Generative AI in Medical and Health Education and Research” was held on January 5, 2024. The event aimed to enhance generative AI literacy and provide opportunities to deepen understanding of its applications in both education and research.
The seminar opened with welcome remarks by Professor Satoshi Hirohata, Dean of the Graduate School of Health Sciences. This was followed by keynote lectures delivered by distinguished speakers: Dr. Kentaro Matsui from the Department of Clinical Laboratory, National Center of Neurology and Psychiatry (NCNP); Dr. Kazunari Yoshida from Education and Training Division, Clinical and Translational Research Center, Keio University Hospital; and Dr. Ryuhei So from Department of Clinical Research, Okayama Psychiatric Medical Center. Associate Professor Masahide Koda from Office for the Promotion of Community-based Medical Education, Academic Research Assembly, Medical, Dental and Pharmaceutical Sciences, Okayama University served as the moderator.
The keynote lectures covered a range of topics: “Utilizing Generative AI in Daily Operations,” “Applications of Generative AI in Education and Research,” and “Novel Research and Social Implementation Centered on Generative AI.” Following the lectures, a comprehensive discussion session was held with the participation of special guest Mr. Toshiyuki Fukuda, Executive Officer and Technical Fellow, Ryobi Systems Co., Ltd. The session featured lively exchanges of ideas on the theme of education and research in the medical and health fields. The event concluded successfully with closing remarks by Dr. Yukari Mimura, Executive Director for Planning and General Affairs.
For on-site participants, a hands-on simulation education session using generative AI was also conducted. A total of 180 attendees participated in the seminar, both in person and online. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all who joined the event.
