The 59th Tomoshibikai General Assembly Held

On June 7, 2025, the 59th General Assembly of the Tomoshibikai was held at J Hall on Okayama University’s Shikata Campus.

The Tomoshibikai is a voluntary body donation association affiliated with the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry at Okayama University. Its members are individuals who, with profound compassion and dedication, have chosen to donate their bodies for medical education—a contribution of immeasurable value to future healthcare professionals. Many members look forward to this annual gathering as an opportunity to connect with students studying medicine. This year, approximately 110 attendees participated, including members from both within and outside Okayama Prefecture as well as university faculty and staff. Eleven university students also volunteered to help run the event.

The assembly began with a moment of silent prayer in honor of the donors. This was followed by opening remarks from Dr. Hiroshi Irie, Chairperson of the Tomoshibikai. Congratulatory addresses were delivered by Dr. Satoshi Kubota, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, and Dr. Ayano Kawaguchi, Head of the School of Medicine. Additional messages of appreciation were offered by House of Representatives members Ichiro Aisawa and Takashi Yamashita, and a message from Representative Shojiro Hiranuma was also shared. Vice Chairperson Yasuko Yamamoto presided over the meeting, during which all agenda items—including the direction of future activities—were approved by acclamation.

In the latter part of the event, Dr. Ryuichi Nakahara from the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Okayama University Hospital gave a medical lecture titled “Staying Healthy with Even a Little Exercise: Simple Tips for Everyday Movement.” His engaging talk, which included live demonstrations, captivated the audience, many of whom were seen taking notes with great interest.

Through this assembly, we once again express our sincere gratitude for the noble intentions of all Tomoshibikai members. We remain committed to further enriching medical education through their generous support.
