The SD Certification Ceremony was held on Friday, December 20, 2024.

On Friday, December 20, 2024, the SD (Student Doctor) Certification Ceremony was held in the First Clinical Lecture Hall at Okayama University’s Shikata Campus. This ceremony recognized fourth-year medical students who had successfully passed the Common Achievement Tests (CBT and OSCE) required for inter-university clinical training.

To participate in clinical training, medical students must pass the CBT, which assesses their knowledge, and the OSCE, which evaluates their clinical skills and patient care. The fourth-year students who successfully completed both exams donned brand-new white coats, generously provided through a donation from the Sekizenkai Foundation, and attended the ceremony with a sense of anticipation as they prepared for the clinical training that would commence in the new year.

During the ceremony, Dean Toyooka of the Faculty of Medicine, Hospital Director Maeda, and Board Chairman Koide of the Sekizenkai Foundation delivered congratulatory speeches. Following their remarks, Mr. Shiina, representing the newly certified Student Doctors of the 2024 academic year, recited the Five Pledges. Additionally, fifth-year students Mr. Yamatsuji and Ms. Terashima, who had received their SD certification a year earlier and had since been gaining experience in clinical training on hospital wards, shared words of encouragement with their juniors. They spoke about the lessons they had learned over the past year and the mindset essential for clinical practice. The ceremony concluded with congratulatory and closing remarks from Professor Ando, Head of the Medical School.
