Tobitate
In October 2013, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT) launched Tobitate! (Leap for Tomorrow) Study Abroad Initiative Japan, a study abroad campaign that aims to encourage young, motivated and capable Japanese to take their first step toward studying abroad. https://tobitate.mext.go.jp
Tobitate! (Leap for Tomorrow) Study Abroad Initiative Japan is one of the most generous scholarship programs and all Japanese students are eligible to receive funding to study abroad once during their time as university students. Okayama University medical students often make use of the opportunity to go abroad to complete their medical research internship (MRI) or elective participatory clinical training.
Scholarship amount:¥ 200 000 to cover basic expenses
+160 000/month (outside Asia), 120 000/month (Asia)
Total amount received to complete a three-month-long MRI in America:
¥ 200 000 + ¥160 000 x 3 = ¥680 000!
Students must submit applications individually. After a document screening, selected applicants will be required to attend an interview.
The Study Abroad Task Force is ready to support students throughout the Tobitate application process.
